Cannot reach id'd views in java code

[Android Question]

I start a new project and can't even run it right away, because all (automatically added) resources in XML (android:id="@+id/the_java_name_of_a_view") can't be reached in my Java code (R.id.the_java_name_of_a_view).

I noticed that (for some reason) the android.R-class is not imported automatically. But even fixing this doesn't help.

What's going on here? How can I fix this?
