    Hi all,
Just ordered the Nexus 6P and just like everyone else out there we want to protect our devices by getting the proper accessories. Not everyone out there knows about the right kind of chargers to purchase. Not all USB Type C chargers are created equal. There are only a very few out there that work and protect your device. Fortunately, for us, Googles Software engineer, Benson L, decided to take on the task of giving his test results and stamp of approval.

    http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6p/accessories/verified-trusted-list-usb-to-usb-c-t3240969

Let's begin by seeing what comes in the box for cables and chargers:
    - Power Brick (which accepts Type C)
    - Type C to Type C cable
    - USB Type A to C adapter

Now, let's discuss spare chargers and Cables.

Following Cables have received Benson's approval/passed his tests:

    http://www.amazon.com/FRiEQ-Hi-speed...dp/B010EXRTXI/
    http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-Chromeb...dp/B00WJSPFOW/
    http://www.monoprice.com/pages/usb_31_type_c

Unfortunately, there aren't any Official or unofficial car chargers out there for this phone (which i'm very upset about, come on Google as much as i love you and your products - think of a product hollistically). I did speak w/ Google CS who suggested that i get a Power Inverter for my Car. Really?!?!?

Following are the questions i have for the Pros out there:
    - If i order one of the Type A to C cables listed above and i connect it to my laptop will it hurt my phone?
    - Does it matter what type of power brick i connect the above cable to (Power specs etc.,)
    - Several cars these days come with built in USB port, will it be ok to connect my Type A to C cable to one of those ports and charge my Nexus 6P?
    - Finally, what is the recommended power rating to charge this phone?

    Thanks!

There are chargers in the Google store that are type-C, so I took that as a sign of them being "sanctioned" for use. Unfortunately, there are no car chargers listed here.

Yea, i was thinking about ordering this:
    https://store.google.com/product/usb_c_charger

not too bad for an official 1st party charger. Only wish it was 6ft vs 5ft. Plus fast charge which is good.

This is really disappointing. The place where I need quick charging the most is when I'm in the car. I would like quick charging in the car because with previous phones, the battery still discharges when I'm using a mapping app and playing music over BT audio in my car. I don't need it at home because I charge my phone overnight when I sleep and I sleep long enough for normal charging to charge my phone.

I'm thankful my jeep has an inverter so i really don't have to worry about a "car charger".

so you can use one of the Benson approved Type C cables along with an Anker or other brand Car Charger that has TYpe A output. Get something that has 2.4Amp out, it will not be a quick charge, but it'll be 2.4Amp charge.

After using the N6P for a week, I find that the battery life is really good and I haven't had the need to charge my phone in the car yet. I found a solution to charging my phone in the car. I just bought an extension cable to extend the USB 2.0 end. That way, my USB 2 to USB-C cable that came with my phone reaches from my car charger adapter to my phone. It seemed overkill to have to use a 2-meter cable when I only need to extend the cable by 2 inches.

Just as a quick update... Benson also reviewed this one:

    http://www.amazon.com/Charger-Vinsic®-Standard-MacBook-ChromeBook/dp/B014F2NQ36/ref=cm_cr-mr-title

It does, in fact, charge faster than normal USB, though it will not pull the full 3Aamp quick charge. (It pulls 2.74amp, which is better than most car chargers).

out of curiosity I tried my Verizon note 3 usb bullet double usb car charger and it works it didn't say fast charge but it did say charging if I remember correctly..
specs say 11-16 vdc input and 5v @ 2amp output.

I used the c to usb cable included with phone its long enough to sit on center console if another 8" longer would sit in cup holder!

just thought I would share this some here are more tech savy than us.

The guy I traded my 6 Plus to for the 6P gave me a little micro to C adapter so I use a lot of my old Nexus 6 chargers. I've had this phone since Monday and have used the included charger maybe 3 times.

Then you're missing out on a great feature... quick charging with the included charger is really really nice. For USB-C quick charging you need (I believe) at least 3amps and you must use all usb-c cables (no converters). You can charge to full ridiculously fast. What most people are struggling with here is finding a similar solution in your vehicle (no official car charger is currently available).

I've since started using the included charger a bit more and it does charge ridiculously fast. What's more is that it doesn't heat up like the fast charging that Motorola and Samsung devices use.

From what I've seen, there are chargers by Monoprice and Vinsic that are very similar; both will properly fast charge (3A max charge) your phone IF they are the only device plugged into the charger -- the chargers don't drive enough power to send 3A to both ports at the same time.

There is also a new charger by Tronsmart that appears as if it will fast charge (3A), even if you do have something charging in the other port; but it is new enough I don't believe it has been tested yet.

Can anyone answer these questions please? Especially if it's safe connecting to laptop?
