Before anyone craps their pants, this just means they're upgrading the architecture so that in 5+ years they can max SD cards out at 2Tb.
Someone is jumping the shark thinking that they'll be able to buy a 2Tb micro SD card next year. It'll be years before it hits that size. We're at 16-32 Gbs now, takes about a year to double, so next year 32-64 Gb, the year after and so on 64-128, 128-256, 512-1Tb, 1-2Tb. Sometime before we hit 2Tb we'll see an announcement saying that new SD cards can hold something like 320Tb or some number to keep potential capacity ahead of consumer capacity.
The logic behind my argument? Uh... that FULL size hard drives are just NOW reaching those sized (at an affordable price). Unless San Disk found a magic way to usurp the entire hard drive industry... lol
