Compass Broken?

Is my compass hardware broken? Using two different apps, it only seems to swing around 360 +-20 degrees no matter how I orient it. Thing is I know it was working before I rooted and updated to the latest JF release.

Anyone else seen this behavior?

yup its quite common, seems the sensor is quite fragile in the g1.

Happens to me a few times, especially when I go near sources of electro-magnetism (like heavy duty power lines or big magnets). Also the compass can get mis-aligned, and I have heard from a few reliable sources to hold the G1 in your hand and rotate your wrist in a figure of eight motion a few times. This seems to reset it.
