Complicated world of Smartphones in Japan

Hey everybody. I've joined this forum as I'm expecting to get a smartphone within the next few weeks, but being based in Japan has thrown up some unique issues that I haven't really seen summarised well elsewhere on the web. Though not strictly android-exclusive issues, I'm hoping posting here to ask questions and post up any research I do will help other people in a similar situation in the future. So first things first- whats the best sub-forum to discuss japanese 3g/4g providers?
