I know you have tried w/o them which I assume means stripping them from the recovery.img however has anyone tried just replacing them with smaller file size replacements such as a picture of just a color or a .jpeg which uses less data? Dummy images basically to fool into thinking they are there but aren't.

Me and PG have tried all sorts of ways. I have compiled cwm with transparent 1px images even, recovery just wont flash. I have given up trying to mod this phone,biggest pos I have ever owned.

whats the method yu guys use? do u erase recovery? or try flashing over it?

ehh, just flashing over. haven't tried erasing then flashing.

I tried downloading a coolpad update via check for update in about phone and one downloaded but errored in recovery mode install. anyone else having this issue

oh I've got it to flash, bish just wont boot into it.

And I kept it simple, I used flash_image.

I used the check for update option in the settings/about phone/check for update. it downloaded a 3.5mb update.zip and rebooted into recovery and errored out something about code 7. I tried installing it manually from sd card in recovery and it gave a different error. something with the update I presume. and I tried this on rooted and non rooted. I was already up to date with the updates from the website as well.

so I did it again after factory reseting my phone and it comes up as an error in installer.

i don't know what tried to download, but it is not the official update. the official update is 8mb. unless maybe it's an update for the chinese ver and coolpad fuq'd up and it's showing up for ours. if it don't flash, don't worry about it and don't try to force it to flash.

I didn't, I left it as is. I accidentaly reset my phone while doing it, but I am so glad I did cause I went down a different path with the phone this time. And I enjoy it so much more than before. My fianc
