Deep Sleep On Phone

Please tell me how to prevent "deep sleep" on my LG Motion 4G phone. I believe that is what is happening at night, therefore alarm does not ring which in turn makes me late. Phone isn't completely off. When I press the power button that is what turns the phone off then I need to turn it back on. Help please. Thanks.
