Help Delayed touchscreen response

I just got my droid x2 the other day...worked great, then for whatever reason, when I try to make a call, it will not call..then a few mins later it starts ringing the number. I try to text and it will not work, then a few mins later it starts filling in the text line. I heard alot of good things about the droid, but so far, this machine seems to be more of a hassle than what it's worth. Never had a problem with just a regular no frills cell phone.
