Root desire rooting help

hi people ive got a desire running 2.2.2 software 2.29.405.14 pvt1 ship s-on so i take it i would have to use revolutionary i think?

just wanting to make sure incase is mess this up lol
 
i did yeah thanks, just wanted to make sure i was reading it right. do you know is the sense 4.0 rom ics 4.0.3 works ok?
 
The sense Rom is in Alpha so not much works on it, I would stick to gingerbread roms for the moment as they work better and are more stable.
 
thanks very much. i tried to flash the recovery image i got but windows says it cannot load the file and wont flash it. ive done the hboot files etc and used revolution to turn my s-off then it downloads a recovery (i think i dont know where it goes) and then turns of, so im kinda of stuck now lol
 
Please give us screenshot of your cmd window with the command you typed and the error message
 
i dont think it worked but i installed the android sdk in c: of windows and was in the tools folder and ran fastboot flash recovery c:\recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7

and it returned with error: cannot load 'c:\recovery_CWM_2.5.0.7
 
yes... I guess "hide extensions for known filetypes" is set in windows (I ALWAYS turn that crap off) so when lookin in windows, the .img would not be apparent.

Hiding extensions is bad. An .exe can sneak in looking like a pdf and you cant tell so you click it and BAM! Virus!
 
Not really. Try redux 2 or oxygen for GB. Ics is sort of stable but its not 100% working and slower than a thirsty snail on a hot day
