Do people you're calling hear an echo on their end?

I've now heard this from a few different callers (2 in the last day). They are hearing an echo of their voice. They are calling me and it's happened when I have called them. I'm calling from my phone (no bluetooth or speaker).

When it's happened I've called back and it's cleared the issue, a couple of times it hasn't.

Do you think it's a hardware or network issue?

I havent have anybody tell me they heard their own voice echo, but I have heard my own voice echo on the Droid. Its intermittent and very faint. I read somewhere the upcoming Android 2.1 update includes an echo fix. I'd recommend just sit tight till December update comes.

I had this problem with my first Droid. I brought it back to the store and my new Droid does not have this problem. I suggest you swap it out.

Noticed it the first day I got the phone when calling my wife on her Droid.

It's also mentioned in that December 11th update as an issue.

I have had the echo problem occur a few times and found that turning the speakerphone on and off during the call kills the echo. Hopefully the OTA fix will address the issue.

I have not heard it and specifically asked those I've called what the quality is like at their end. All the reports have been very good. It's a 100% improvement over my previous phone.

I spoke with a verizon rep and he said it's a network issue encountered in areas with high call volume..

Not really the same issue, but I went into Settings -> Call Settings and turned off Voice Privacy. I'm not sure what that does, but i swear people sound better to me with it off.

A co-worker and I were testing this because the other caller is getting lots of echo/strange feedback when we are on speakerphone. We found that when the phone is lying flat on a desk the speaker is hard against the desk surface. Lifting the phone eliminated some of the annoying feedback. The car dock seems to cause the same effect. Anyone else notice this?

I've had only one person say something about it. I have also asked a few people how I sounded when I was using it the first week and they all said I sounded fine?

I have had 2 people tell me thta they get a bad echo when they call my droid.

I had this issue too. Everyone that I called could hear a horrible echo (their own voice), but my end was clear. I took it to Verizon and got a different phone and all is good- have had no problems since.

I have the echo issue as well. My wife says things are better after I reduce the call volume. When its really loud she says she hears the echo, when I have it turned all the way down (she still sounds fairly loud) it is better. Awaiting the fix.

My wife complained once about an echo. I powered the phone off and back on and it hasn't happened since.

This is a known problem and will be resolved in the Dec 11 update.

I had this complaint from two people last week. Verizon's short-term resolution is to power off and on your phone. I did that and haven't had the problem since.

Definitely a problem. Returned my first Droid yesterday with no questions asked at Verizon store. Problem resurfaced today. However, toggling the speaker phone seemed to fix the problem...for now.

Where is there a summary of December 11 updates?

Sometimes when you have the volume up to high you get the echo. Try turning it down and it should help

Anything new on this? My girlfriend says her end of the connection echoes really bad. I never notice any on my end though. Is this hardware, software, or network related?

Why is there an echo or static in my call?
Turn off Settings => Call Settings => Voice Privacy.
Then call *228, x1. Then *228, x2.
