does all this lighting up have to happen?

Generally love my Galaxy tab 2 7.0 but wonder whether this is controllable.
When I connect the charger at night the screen turns on. Then when it is fully charged the screen turns on for about 30 seconds. Since I sleep in the same room as the charger it lights up the place. Have taken to putting a magazine over the screen just to keep the room dark.
Then when I disconnect the tablet from the charger the screen turns on.

Is there a setting or an app that would permit me to keep the tablet from lighting up during any or all of these situations?

TIA

mine lights up when i plug the charger in, but not when i take it out again. i don't remember changing any settings, but there must be one (unless my tab is defective!) :O

I have a case, so I never noticed it, nor do I know of a setting. It is somewhat amusing to think of the tablet feeling compelled to say, "Something has changed with my power... surely you want to know all about it!"

I have the same issue with a phone, but I sleep soundly enough that it is no bother to me... it even posts an alert when it is at 100% charge, and proclaims, "I am fully charged, please unplug me to save your electricity as we celebrate together." (embellished somewhat for my amusement).
