Exciting news! Apparently a friend of the guys at AllDroid.org has access to a Droid X Developer phone which may be crucial to unlocking the bootloader. They are currently collecting donations to obtain the phone.

yeah this is great news, provided its legit and really does have a developer friendly bootloader. I threw some money in just for the cause

Crap, crap, crap. >.< I don't have anything in my PayPal account right now and I only have $0.32 in my checking. Even if I had more, it takes like five days to transfer funds. Worst time to not have online credit, evar.

This could be huge!! I was starting to think about getting rid of my DX for the Galaxy S(Fascinate) when if comes out for VZW, but if this ends up coming to fruition, I have absolutely no reason to get any other phone.

No, he bought a regular DX for a Dev. We believe this is an actually "Developer Phone" (has Froyo and POSSIBLY useful bootloader)

This is awesome... hopefully it turns up useful. I never thought I'd want Vanilla Android so badly until owning the DX.. ha ha.

Wow, great to see donation goal has been met. :D
Such a great cause, things like this prove and show that Android has such a great fanbase and community.

Except the site is still there taking donations and says the goal is only 20%

Kind of wierd.

Because you're looking at their standard monthly server goal donation page. (The cost for running the AllDroid server...)

They've only met 20% of their server bill. Totally different.

Well damn it did I donate to the wrong cause? LOL Damn I wanted the 6 hour lead time notice! oh well it's a good site also.

I hope they can pull froyo off of it and unlock the bootloader. I was kinda sad to go back to 2.1 from my droid and buying a phone that we all knew was locked down but i knew deep down the dev comunity would overcome it. Granted they have help from leaks and insiders but they still make us all happy
