tested there 4.0 images off there website but they do not work on my box, it seems even though my box looks the same i guess the boards inside are different.
Erasing IDB with RKAndroidTool and flashing it again helped. I'm running the full rooted firmware again.
When you flashed the full rooted firmware, did you check the "Loader" box and choose the right loader "RK29xxLoader(L)_V2.05.bin" from the folder?
Preinstalled loader in settings.ini is wrong!
Just try it again, i'm confident it will work
hi i have got to day the Gbox-I android 4.1
i have some issue, the video playback is vary laggy from HDD
i have tried some different player like mobo player mx player and it didnt help.
any 1 can help ?
After many preambles, is there any ICS 4.0 OS firmware for early versions of the G-BOX? Or should we keep the 2.3.1 version without option to XBMC? (I mean the USB version 2 as 4USB version I have understood that there is no ICS version 4.0).

Hi first thanks for the reply. Indeed I tried downloading the file "Android 4 Rev IV (Root!) Upgrade for G-Box I & II Android TV Boxes (8/21/2012)" also the REV III and both to burn and insert it into the SD the G-BOX I gives me the error "Invalid Firmware File" and that if I want to delete. Not why I get this message but I could not update it. Would anyone have been the same?

What I did.
1. Downloaded firmware "G-BOX-201111 NEW Firmware(GTV564-GTV584).rar" from "http://www.dayflycn.com/Downloads.asp"
2. Downloaded "RK29xxImageTools_v2.1.zip" from "http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/19808-rk29xx-imagetools-v21/"
3. Unzip GBox firmware image in to same directory as RKimage tools and rename to wendal.img
4. Followed RKTools instuctions to unpack.
5. went to system/apps directory and fdeleted apps I didn't want following guides from "http://forums.androidcentral.com/optimus-v-rooting-roms-hacks/156703-guide-apks-their-purpose-safe-not-remove-big.html" and "http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1897286".
6. Followed RKTools instuctions to re-pack.
7. copied wendal_new.img to formatted sdcard and renamed to update.img.
8. started gbax and waited untill booted.
9. Inserted SDcard and was promted to install update.
So the device now acts as if rooted such that I can uninstall stock apps. However they reappear once rebooted. So I removed as many as possible from the image before repacking. Then just install the ones I need from the market or apk file in explorer after flashing.

I just tried that image and after installing my gbox would not switch
to hdmi anymore? Even put back the image from the disaster recovery
and same problem. It let's me choose hdmi output but falls back to
composite straight away. Any ideas?

Ray
(update)
Hmmm, after installing the dayflycn rom and rebooting it worked again.
Might be that the hdmi needed to be active when switching, will try later.
Maybe the G-box they are selling have different hardware then ours, if cuold someone dump the firmware from the new ones we can try install on ours and update.

All application mainatance (install/uninstall/update) can be done manual due to personal needs. The best that "new rom cookers" can do is to port ICS/JB to our device.
After a year if it were possible it would be done....
now with this firmware is direct support for init.d and the load of all modules .... however no one tells you to try it!
