I'm not at all able to connect with Kies. The Samsung website shows Kies is not supporting y5360. The software does not recognizing the phone in win7 and also in XP. Any solutions?

i have same problems with my Galaxy Y and KIES. I have version 2.0.2.11071_128 of kies, and when i try to access the contacts on the phone it gives me an OBEX error.

my sd unmount automatically what will be the problem reply pls

Well, I have racked my brains for over two weeks trying to get my GT-S5570 Galaxy mini to connect to my PC via kies on Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
I have downloaded the latest version of kies, tried removing and formatting the SD card. Even tried installing Kies on win XP 32 bit platform, to no avail.

What bugs me is, originally Kies was connecting and doing the firmware updates on win 7 64 bit, until it did the last one sometime in September or so. After which, it has been no go.
The wireless update from the phone does not work either when connected to my wi fi at home.

Any ideas about this folks.

What a joke this KIES software has become.

I think this is the first and last Samsung phone I will ever buy.

same prob giving obex error for contacts but files can be sync.
It seems Samsung released a new version of Kies on Jan 2nd 2012.

Kies_2.1.1.11124_17_6

Still does not work on two Windows 7 64 bit machines I put it on.

Anyone know what the latest firmware should be for the Galaxy GT-S5570?
. About phone says GINGERBREAD ZCKP9

Managed to get the phone to link to the samsung update site via wi fi, but it tells me there are no updates, which I doubt seriously.

guys me 2 faced same problem of updating SAMSUNG GALAXY Y through kies at last i found a way how to upgrade frimware using kies.... i used to be on Gingerbread DDKJ1..now im upgraded to new frimware Gingerbread DDLA1 which released on jan 2012

i had windows 7 ultimate... ( ps:kies wont work on windows xp sp2)

1.installed kies from samsung website

2. now go to control panel > click on "programs" > click on Turn windows feature on & off ".......... a pop up menu appears.... in that menu click on "+" beside .net framework 3.5 tick all inside(windows comunication foundation http activation.... and non http activation)

then press OK of that menu!! ....

wait for few min to complete the task...

(diz procedure is used to activate .net framework 3.5 on windows 7 since windows kies require MS.net framwork 3.5 and above
ps:look at specification of kies )

4. now open kies

5 connect samsung galaxy y with usb cable..

6 wait few mins... it will connect!!

7.if any new update releases a pop will come about "new frimware available".... click on upgrade...

I have just read that, the GT-S5570 has voltage tolerance problems, with the USB ports that are generally on the front of a PC case and share one connection on the motherboard.

I plugged the phone into the USB ports at the back of the computer which is basically plugging it straight into the motherboard individual USB ports.

KIES, tries to connect and actually does this 2 times now but, will not connect.

I tried Samsung New PC Studio, which is also like the KIES program and free on the Samsung site.

Samsung New PC Studio will now connect to the device but, only recognizes it as USB mass storage.
So, I can access the data on the SD card but as Samsung New PC Studio, does not recognize the phone, I can not do the firmware upgrade via Samsung New PC Studio.

I mean Samsung New PC Studio has the functionality, to actually do the firmware upgrade but as it only sees the device as USB mass storage, I am still screwed.

Any ideas folks?

OK thank's to jinsexyyy's steps, I finally got connected to Kies and upgraded the latest firmware. I have XP with SP3, and had to deviate slightly form the above steps. May be this is Windows XP specific. I couldn't comment for Windows 7.

Step 2.2
Install .net 4.0. and reboot PC.

Step 2.3
Do a windows update which added a few more .net 4.0 bits. Not sure if this step is necessary but did it anyway.

Step 6.2
Back up all your data

Step 6.3
Power down

Step 6.4
Remove your flash card

Step 6.5
Power up

Step 6.6
Connect your USB cable and wait for Kies to detect

Step 6.7
Disable your firewall

Step 7.2
Make sure that Kies says that it is decompressing the downloaded files. It didn't for me the first time. The first time the phone is stated "Downloading... Do not turn off target !!" but it got stuck there like this for yonks. Kies would not recognise the phone

Step 8.2
PAY REAL ATTENTION TO J's STEP 8 WARNING. DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHING. DONT EVEN START ANY OTHER APPLICATION

Step 9.2
After reboot, windows recognises the phone as a Samsung USB device only and complains of looking for CDC driver. Ignore it.

Step 9.3
Kies picks off where it left off and completes upgrade process. It shows the firmware versions

Step 10.2
Phone power cycles again

Step 10.3
Kies recognises phone and with data again

Step 10.4
Power down phone and disconnect from USB

Step 10.5
Re-insert SD card and power up phone

Step 10.6
Reconnect USB. Kies is all happy, your phone is all happy. You should be all happy... I am :-)

after
#4.select confirm and press home button
#5.select reboot system to reboot..

Rooted the phone, worked like a dream.
But, only by holding the Home & Power button. Holding up the volume as well, did not take me to the recovery screen.

Thanks
But, will this help me connect to KIES. LOL

And what is the point of rooting?
So we can flash the firmware with other than gingerbread 2.3.4

I am a Windows Xp3 SP3 user and had followed sir montysphyton's way of doing things and my Galaxy Y connected through Kies well (after 5 days of surfing the net trying to do all sorts of workarounds)

However

Step 2.3: I did not connect through Windows update for the additional Net 4 framework but I did install a Net 4 framework from Microsoft's website (mine was 3.5 before)

Step 7.2: Kies connected and saw my Galaxy Y (GT3560) and opted for an upgrade in firmware. I clicked "yes" and the connection again dissapears (and comes back to "Please connect a device") after clicking "yes" but downloads the latest firmware for the GT3560 anyway. Then Kies tried to upload/transfer the firmware to my now disconnected device and failed (naturally)

Step 8.2: Yes, I did not touched anything and I left the PC to get some food XD

Step 10.5: After re-inserting the SD card, Kies now will not detect my Galaxy Y. It connects when the SD card is literally out of its slot (not when its only un mounted in the phone settings) So all my would-be trasferred files are now wasted at Kies interface.

Yes, it did connect Kies to my Galaxy Y. But after re-inserting the SD card, it cannot detect the device (back again to square one)

Thanks though to montyspython for sharing his way for xp sp3 users like me. I think I'll have to experiment more on workarounds as Samsung is not offering ANY help at the moment (yeah, they toss in Kies updates and everyone of them is useless) Just stay on making televisions and monitors Samsung.
