Gingerbread Check In!

my wife already downloaded but I'm waiting for them to fix out a few of the bugs namely wireless n. also not happy about incompatibility with some of the apps.

I'm in n j in this thing keeps nagging me about update available.

What part of Nj are you guys in? I'm near Atlantic City and I still haven't got the update. I just checked a few minutes ago.

I got the update on Monday and wanted it to marinate an check everything out before commenting. I am liking it alot more actually. First thing comes to mind is my battery life seems to have improved. Also the videos seems to be crisper, more refined. I like the shut down power off option now, its better. Also got some of my apps that I had to update preform better and look different, Xfinity for one, Mixing for another. So over I am pretty freaking happy, a great phone got better

I was able to download the update a few days ago but as for installing it I guess I got a brain freeze.... I cannot get it to install on my rooted phone. What do I need to do to install the update? Unroot, install then reroot? Thanks in advance

Sooooo am I in Android fantasy land here or what? I checked on my EVO 4G and it said that there are no updates for my phone (which sits blissfully at 2.2) It says my phone is "up to date" what gives?? Is it a planned roll out? I'm in central Florida (north Tampa) just like another poster here who claims he got the update! What's the 411 ???

"First thing comes to mind is my battery life seems to have improved." Carpe Nocturnal

This is what I am experiencing, but I didn't want to say anything as I thought it might be my imagination.

Woop... nevermind... I'm downloading the update. :)

I had a failure for an ADB driver per windows Vista on my PC
All other drivers installed properly.
My Evo was connected to USB power during the upgrade installation.

Any ideas?

I've read somewhere that older Evo 4g versions (3.29.651.5) won't be seeing notification that this update is available. Is it true?

My Evo is about 3 weeks old. Here's what I experienced on both my new phone and my wife's year old model.
In the system updates section "Scheduled Check" was checked and when I tapped the "Check Now" button it stated that there were no updates available and my phone was up to date.
On a hunch, I unchecked the "Scheduled Check" and tried again and BOOM the update was offered. Don't ask me why, I don't know... but that's what happened on both of our phones. The entire download and install took about 15 minutes on our household WiFi. I haven't experienced any problems so far.

I was notified today that my upgrade was available - downloaded with no problems. Went home at lunch time, and tried to upgrade wife's EVO, and no updates available. I guess they are pushing these out slowly so as not to choke their servers. I'll try powering hers down and back up tonight and see if it grabs it.

HUGE difference in battery performance. Yea!!!!!

I just upgraded 2 Evo 4G phones and I didn't see it on the upgrade list on the phone I just went ahead and ran the scan and it popped up for both of them.

Downloading now over 4g. Almost done and started about 4 minutes ago. I'd say 6 minutes total for the update. Looking forward to it.

Greeeat, more useless crap apps forced upon us by Sprint. LoveRly. Now I really want to root this thing. Is a root available for this version yet?

D.

Yeah me either!? And its suppose to be today!! Idk if anyone else saw that thread but there's suppose to be an update which fixed netflix and the fake voice mail notification and the voice to text on our evo's and its suppose to be ota today!?!?

Has anyone noticed a difference in signal strength after the first update? Sitting on my front porch I'm lucky if I even get 1 bar. Prior to the update I had an average of 3 bars at any given time. My friend, who also has an Evo without the update had full signal sitting right next to me. Not sure what to think about this & I'm afraid if I take it in to the store they'll tell me to do a factory reset. NOOOOOO!!!!
