Gmail auto opening

Hi, I have a Note 8 and it's set up to receive notifications if I receive a gmail.This works fine unless I am using the phone when I get said notification then,the slightest of phone movement,causes Gmail to open and display the email.which causes real problems with what I was doing prior.

This only started a few months ago presumably after an update.

I'm looking for a 'wizard' to stop this.
