Help Had to break root and go back to 2.1.

Now I am trying to manually update to 2.2. I downloaded the 2.2 update
file, and renamed it to update.zip, but when I try and update it keeps
giving me an error and saying its failed. Any reason why it might be
doing this, and how I can fix it??

Which link? The mirror of the google one? (assuming google since you said you renamed it)

If you downloaded the update from your phone, try grabbing it on your PC then transferring it over USB/WiFi. Downloading ROMs on the phone itself is known to cause corruption issues which would block the install.

If that doesn't work, you could always try grabbing a stock 2.2 ROM with root over at Pete's website:

He also has SBF files linked to do a proper restore if anything goes wrong. (which will kill root if that's what you were going for.)
