Headphone adaptor & remote

Neff

Newbie
I hoping someone can help me find a product.

I don't like the headphones supplied with the Hero, that style don't stay in my ears and I have a fairly pricey Sure set that I use.

However I'd like to keep the remote control and microphone so what I'm looking for is something like the supplied headphone set but with a standard stereo socket instead of the ear pieces.

It looks like yu can get something like that for the EMU socket but it would be much more convenient to use the headphone socket on the top when it's cased.

There seem to be such adaptors sold for the iPhone but I don't know if they would be compatible.

I can confirm that using iPhone headphones work with the hero providing they are the ones for the 3G not the 3GS (the kind that only have one button). The button works in the same way that the middle on on the HTC earphones does, but obviously the next and previous ones are missing but the mic seems to work fine.

With that in mind you may get away with buying ones designed for the iPhone, but you'll lose the next and previous buttons.

Hi,

Cut the HTC earphones off right up close to the buds, buy an inline female 3.5mm stereo socket from Maplins, and fit that, use any h/phones then.

Max.

I'm using these HTC: Accessory store: Windows Mobile Phone Accessories: HTC Hero Wired Remote Control RC E100 (with HTC Logo): Description at this very moment. Got full control of the music, calls come through beautifully and best of all, they have a 3.5mm socket for your own headphones. So that means practicality, comfort and quality!

Yes, I'd recommend them. My only gripe is the positioning of the buttons on the remote in relation to the in and out wires - for me it's upside down with the headphone wire curving up over the unit and getting in the way when positioned as intended. Personally I find it less cluttered with wires and easier to use if I hold the unit upside down. That may or may not make sense... but don't let it put you off!

Edit - these do go into the mini usb at the bottom - not the headphone socket at the top, as I think you are saying you'd prefer. To me I prefer it this way because i always put the phone in my pocket upside down so it's ready to use when I grab it and pull it out. when using the headphone socket at the top for one, it's difficult to put the phone in my pocket upside down and for two, if I put it in bottom first, then I have all sorts of contortions to get it into a normal holding position. So i like it using the mini usb. I am prepared to accept i might just be odd though! ;)
