Root Help installing Cyanogenmod in Galaxy s3

It is too complicated for me. I would have to do a research on every term used in the article just to (probably) end up bricking the phone.
My baseband says now I747MVLUFNK2. Does anyone know if this is enough to flash the latest version of CM?

Wow! Awesome! It still says M tho.

So, according to post #34 what you mean is that i can basically flash CM12 in my phone without having to update this baseband I747MVLUFNF2?

I think you would be OK but to be sure you could use Odin to flash the firmware in my last link OB3 to be on the latest bootloader and baseband. It would be a good idea to download it and save anyway to have on hand for a emergency.

Ok, now I have two options:
1. Flash the latest CM without updating the firmware
2. Update the firmware with the link provided by @Jfalls63 then flash CM
I haven't done this before (I used odin when installing CWM tho) and I'm strictly doing what i've been suggested. What way would you recommend then?

Also, in case I decide to go with option 1. is there a way to just backup my iphone as it is now so i can go back in case anything goes wrong?

When you have several versions of 4.4.2 usually the difference is security updates. I think you are good to go with the version you have.

Awesome! I have everything I need, I'll flash the latest CM without updating the firmware, see you guys in a few minutes!! Thank you and wish me luck!

One more question... Can I just use the option "update CM" included in settings or do i have to download the zip and use CWM as i did last night??

Couple of points:

1. If you update through settings, you will receive the latest possible update for your phone.
2. You flash Gapps from CWM much like you flash a ROM.

I had several versions to choose from, it's in the process of updating to 12.1 now. I hope it keeps Gapps and the rest of the apps i had in CM10
