Root Help, Phone crashed and wont boot up

I am running Gingervillian 2.1 and my phone crashed earlier when in market updating some apps, now it gets stuck in a boot loop when I try to turn it on.
I can boot into bootloader screen but I can't boot recovery.

Can someone tell me how to sort this?

Try removing the battery, then replace it & turn on the phone while holding the volume down button.
That should get you into your recovery selection area

I've done this and can access the bootloader menus but when i pick recovery I just get a black screen that says CWM-Alpharev Recovery v2.5.1.8 but I dont have any of the usual options in recovery.

Seems like a common fault on gingerbread roms, the crashing on updating apps.
Can you not access a backup from recovery at all

I couldnt as the recovery wasnt booting, I just downloaded and flashed the recovery image again and that allowed me into recovery so I flashed the rom again, booting just now but taking longer than usual

on initial boot up it seems like the roms take forever to become fully active, personally i tend to look round on the website or watch a film or anything esle to occupy my mind

Booted up but there is a problem with Launcher Pro, think it may have crashed while updating Launcher Pro. Wish I didnt remove the stock launcher from the rom before flashing now as I am now stuck without a launcher, and I dont have a card reader so no way of getting the full rom onto my sd card, looks like I'll need to nandroid restore unless you have another suggestion?

do a restore. Maybe your ext partition or /data partition corrupted. Format /data first via recovery. dont format ext via recovery, dont think its great that way.

You can mount the card as usb mass storage in recovery, connect and transfer files that way.

Alternatively you could adb push launcher2.apk to the phone also connected in recovery.

Managed to get it going but got a message saying something about UID and data not matching or something. I have a custom MTD layout and I flashed the custom boot zip before booting but as it didnt match I think there must have been a problem with the data partition, I've formatted data and restoring just now hopefully that sorts it
