I have been sent an HTC Desire as a replacement for a G2/Hero from T-Mobile due to the 3G/Missed Calls/Texts issues. Strange thing is that T-Mobile have told me that they don't want the G2 sent back, but that it will be "blacklisted" in seven days.
I guess that this means no sim card will work in it, so I have just tried using it without a sim. Thought it might work as an mp3 player/games machine for the small boy here, and download via WiFi.
But the device won't get past the screen telling me that there's no sim card. Can these things be used without a sim card at all?
