How do I correct misspelled words?

Is there an easy way to correct misspelled words? Right now if I notice a wrong word, i have to try and put the cursor after the wrong word and then backspace. This sometimes takes a while because I'm not touching the screen in exactly the right place. Is there an easier way or am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any help.

Double tap on the word to highlight and then retype to replace it.

Also you may find using the optical track ball far easier to move the curser around in text to edit the odd letter instead of trying to place the cursor with your finger...

It's also worth checking if your misspelled word has been added to ur dictionary, in settings , language and keyboard, touch input then user dictionary. If it is click it and delete the word. Should help for future attempts
