How to explain data usage

I'm trying to explain data usage to my 62yr old sis in law. This month in 16 days she has used over 12gb of data so far. She found a Sims like app that she has spent a lot of money on upgrades that she didn't realize she was doing. Now I need help explaining even metro's unlimited data has a reasonable use limit also. NOTE TO MODS, If there is a better place for this go ahead.

Oy, sorry we missed this for so long.

I think other Metro folks will be able to help you out in the MetroPCS forum where I moved this to. You may try to explain data usage like old school long distance phone service.

Don't know how to help explain but just to say since the tmobile merger I haven't heard of any throttling on the fully unlimited data plan. Tmobile's fully unlimited throttles after 9765GB (which is basically impossible to achieve) they may be doing that for us now.

I was? ???? also. She was addicted to live wallpapers then I showed her a couple of free music download sights then a movie downloads site and Netflix and so on. In a nutshell it like" This is your brain, this is your brain on Android. Any questions?"

If you have WiFi at home you could explain the difference and show her how to connect to WiFi when at home.

Explain how text/articles uses very little, pictures medium, and video/app updates uses lots of data. And find some online articles explaining data plans - here is one, and another.
