How to get a good deal in store?

I see that people here have walked out of mobile phone stores with some great bargains.

I've been living off my wife's old contract phones for years and I always hated going into stores to look at phone as sales people always tried to sell me stuff I didn't want / need.
I've now decided it's time to invest in a Desire with a contract (T-Mobile). Their

Well, this is always tricky. You have to remember that they want your custom so it's important not to be too eager when it comes to choosing a handset. I managed to get 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, 10% off the line rental every month and insurance thrown in for free. 24 month contract on Orange. Works out at

T-Mobile often have some added extra packages in-store.

As above, appear stupid about a phone, look at a few before saying "I think I like this one" have a play with a real one, then ask what plans they have.

Dont give a budget fro the plan or term length until they've offered. They'll go in high at say
