Root How to install ICARUS 1.1 by Isaacj87

I'm not sure if my A2SD is working because I noticed that whenever I install an app my phone memory goes down. However, when I uninstall an app the memory stays the same. Any help would be appreciated!

Jazzy. ...need help. How do I move my apps to my sd card? If I partition with the rom manager....will it erase all my apps?

Hi moogie. Don't worry about moving your apps. When you finish with Icarus 1.1 you just have to go back to the market and re-login (be sure to login with the SAME email address you had before) and your apps will all be there waiting for you.

Hey Fred! Check out the thread in All things root on the A2SD. It should answer your questions.

Ha...lol. I have this app called superbox and its supposed to show me which apps can be moved to my card and which apps are on the card. Well I know I have apps that can be installed or moved to the card but I can't do it...and my memory is low.

Moogie...go back up to the 3rd post...I think it's the 3rd from the top of this thread and read about the app2sd. It will probably explain things to you there.

Did you see that section?

teeny tiny problem.
i flashed icarus just fine only to find that I HAVE NO KEYBOARD! my guess is that i need to reinstall swype (using better keyboard 7 trial now) and try again but wouldnt wipe data make me loose it again. i also uninstalled android keyboard too.

i restored back to "stock" (rooted and boosted) for now.
i think if i flash to true mpcs stock it might work but im not sure.
any ideas?

Which Icarus zip file did you use? For all carriers or for metroPCS users?

Oh wow. I've never uninstalled the stock keyboard. I've never tried to remove skype either. Isn't the link you posted for both carriers Jazz?

There are 3 ICARUS 1.1.zip links:

1. all carriers

2. cricket only

3. metroPcs

I have never heard of this problem before. What messaging system are you trying to use? the stock one or another?

You flashed with the zip for both carriers.

If I upgrade to Icarus will the Market know which apps I had already paid for?:)

When you go to the Market, Download all the ones you want. Do not close out the Market until you are done. If you do you'll come back and find that only the ones you'd re-downloaded will be there. All the non-downloaded ones will vanish. If you didn't keep track of the ones you'd bought, You might not know which ones to look for again. ^^.

September, it does say 'my apps' and they will all be listed there. Another thing is this...you can go to the online Android Market (on your computer) and log in there and click on 'my account' and it will show every app you ever downloaded, pro or free.

:)

Also if you use titu to back up you app+data and transfer the backup to you computer before installing icarus or any other rom, you can restore them by installing titu and moving the backup folder back to your sd card and open titu click on Backup/Restore and hit the menu button, click Batch, scroll down a little and hit the Run button on Restore all apps with data.

after you uninstall a program and you memory looks the same, reboot your phone and you will see the changes....and also not all programs will be moved to the sd card, it will also use phone memory also, just not as much....

Then again, I was using all free apps. Once I left the market, All the non-downloaded ones disappeared. When I went back into "My apps" it just showed the ones I had decided to re-download before I closed the market. All the others were not there anymore. I think this may be different for paid apps.

I did not know about being able to go to "My account". Thanks for that! Now I can go check the ones I think I might be missing! XD

I ran into issues with the A2SD after installing Icarus 1.1. I had to use ADB to enable A2SD and also to move the Dalvik Cache to the SD Card. Once I moved the Dalvik Cache there is very limited space taken from my internal memory. After installing 500MB of apps I have only lost 15MB of internal space. I recommend using ADB to check and see in A2SD is enabled and all settings are correct if you notice internal memory decreasing when installing apps. All the apps you install should be going to the A2SD partition.

ok i have a problem now. i did the fix permissions from rom manager and i turned off my phone and turned it back on and now i cant access my market or rom manager

Thanks hun, and YOUR THE BEST!!!!!:D

Awwww....you're sweet! Thank you! *blushes* :p

Login as normal and see if you can get your market and rom manager back.

Stock messenger but SMS isn't my problem. I simply don't have a keyboard.
Can't get past set up without one if i want to use market.
I had no browser either so i can't get apps third party either.
Maybe its because i got the Icarus.zip for both carriers on my MacBook and did cwm and my backups on my HP PC. Also had to re-zip the rom before putting it on my SD. Stupid crapple.
