How to re-read a text message

tallbump

Newbie
Ok, new to this whole android thing. Had the phone less than a week, and apparetnly, it's smarter than my wife and I.

So, we get a text message, read it, close up. Didn't delete it. Now we wont to go back and read it again...BUT, um, yeah, where did it go. I can't find just like a standard "on box" like on dumb phones, so, I'm at a loss. We haven't downloaded and apps for messaging and my wife just used her gmail account when she activated the phone.

Theperson she got the text from that we are loking for in particular is not in her contacts either.

Oh, and I did try searching this, as well as just googling it and couldn't come up with it, so please don't shoot the n00b

Help please

Tried the Messaging icon yet? (Bottom right hand corner of bog standard out-of-the-box firmware setup...)

Better read the manual again, and maybe track down the thread here that has a link to a more recent and expanded PDF copy of the manual...

(Handcent is a nice alternative to the standard message app...)

Well, we re-configured the main screen and I don't think there is a messaging icon. You're talking about the regular front screen right, like the equivalent of a "desktop"?

Open Messaging, it is a green word bubble with a smiling face in it. The text should be in there. If messaging isn't on your home screen open the app drawer, should be a a white icon of a 3x3 grid of white squares and scroll through the list until you find messaging, or long press on the homescreen (desktop) and add an app and then select messaging from the list.

Look in the app drawer for your messaging app if you can't find it on your home screen. Open it, if it takes you to your last message thread, press the back button and it should take you to a screen showing you all the messages.
