how to save people contacts on disk

I want to save my contacts onto my computer hard drive. Where on disk is the file responsible for saving all the contacts? Thanks.

If they are sync'd with google (which they should be) you can use google to export them. Log into gmail, look at contacts and look for export options.

The only sync I can get to work on gmail is the calendar.
When I get to contacts, It just shows gmail contacts and not the phone.

There is an option for import/export but it's not straightforward to me. It says "Please select a CSV or vCard file to upload" and from there on I'm lost.

Go to people > menu > import/export > export to sd

Copy the file from sd card to computer.

OK. I was able to do a sync, but it was the opposite of what I wanted. The phone contacted my gmail contacts and put it onto people contacts on the phone.

Now, when I try your method, the choice for import/export is unavailable, as if it's through with doing stuff like this. I tried finding it in settings, but it's not there anymore! lol.
