Full root is three parts technically, a rooted rom, a custom recovery, and s off. You can have one without having all of them.

Does hboot, the white screen you booted to have s off at the top? If so your nand is unlocked, an important part of root.

A custom recovery is what dan was referring to. It is clock work mod or amon ra. If you booted into one of those you have a custom recovery, this allows you to flash files to your partitions.

The last part is if your rom is rooted meaning you are root user. You can check and see if you have the super user app. You can also open terminal and enter su if it returns the character # you are rooted.

that is probably clockwork mod recovery. so it looks like you are rooted. another way to tell is if you go to hboot. power off then press and hold power+vol down that should take you to the hboot screen. if you have s-off and not s-on and your hboot is 2.10 then you are rooted and good to go to flash some roms.

a good place to start is http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/194918-rooting-dummies.html guide.
