Root How to upgrade Huawei Ascend from 2.1 to 2.2???

Indeed, 2.2 will be pushed Q1 of 2011, But we may get it sooner. Currently I know one person is working on a Froyo -> ascend port. So, something to look forward to.
 
I blog for a living, So I have 'the skinny' the majority of the time, there's a developer working on a froyo port for the ascend. Next, if you care to open your eyes and look at the thread UnSmartPhone has posted here, you'll clearly see that the 'administrator' we know what that is right... has said the update will come in Quarter 1 of 2011.

Uh, how do we know he is administrator? Everyone has the tag "Huawei Staff" under their name...

I have read that the Ascend doesn't have dedicated graphics unit. This is why it is cheaper than the Sanyo Zio even though the Zio has 1.6. So Froyo MIGHT not work well, specifically the Froyo Gallery app.

I heard the Zio is going to upgrade to 2.1 this month.
 
Where did you hear this? Just yesterday a Cricket agent told me the Kyocera Zio was getting 2.1 this month and that the Ascend is 'probably' getting Froyo sometime this quarter but could not guarantee it.

I hope you were referring to the Ascend instead. :)
 
Well I have a rumor two that we might be getting the upgrade today but still no upgrade unless I'm checking wrong. You just go to settings> About Phone>Online Updates. Right?

I think that is correct but then again we might get a popup saying the update is available. I'm interested in how they will tell us to install it. If you read the manual it gives specific instructions for that but I'm not sure if it will all be necessary. I wonder if having your phone rooted could prevent one from getting notification of the update. Surely not! :)
