HTC Hero Bouncing Keyboard [Help]

Either you have a bug free phone or you have a Sprint Hero. But since you are posting in the normal HTC Hero forum I guess you don't have a Sprint hero do you? :p

Could be down to an app we all have installed but some people don't...

Hmm.

I can't replicate it either. I have a stock G2 (with the software update) with the stock keyboard and the stock browser, and not only does it not bounce, it is damn quick too.

I assume this is done in the default browser?

Mine is a unmoded hero with just the orange updates
Other than a few apps loaded.
Mine jumps all over the place.
Would really like to see this fixed.

Just tried this myself - and yes mine jumps too.

4 day old, UK sim free, latest build, only a few apps loaded.

I copied your exact steps to replicate this.
Works fine on mine. No bouncing.

I have the latest tmobile firmware.

Don't have this issue. Maybe we can all list apps installed on our phones to find out which one makes it bouncing.

So can we safely say that this is not a 'bug' or is it to early to rule that out?

We all have the same 1.5 Android Update... (People May Have Custom ROM versions though..Modaco etc)

Any one had a change to report this to HTC?

No problems here with a Stock Orange Hero. I must just be lucky.

Turn it to landscape and presto! Keyboard in correct place and lets me type without it bouncing around.

Which browser is this happening on? The default one? I've never had it happen but then I used Dolphin from the start.

Can't replicate it now on MCR 3.1

No 'bounce' with stock browser on MCR3.x either. I reckon it's a build issue...

MCR3.x uses 2.73.405.66 as the base. Anyone using 2.73.405.38/5 (unlocked or SIM-free) or 2.73.61.5 (Orange) ROMs not seeing this bug? T-mobile (2.73.110.26) appears immune, correct?

My Build Number = 2.73.405.5

The guys over @ Modaco http://android.modaco.com/content/h.../bouncing-keyboard-in-landscape/#entry1069155 have also concluded it is an issue with the 2.73.405.5 ROM...

Mine does it on stock HTC hero 2.73 and stock browser. Seems to be an issue with the notification bar appearing then disappearing..

That's exactly what I have found. And more... I can replicate your problem ONLY when I have something in the notification bar that is active. In my case Screeble. With Screebl on, I get your bouncing, with Screebl off: stable. But I just had a text message and that notification didn't make it bounce.

So, check if you have anything in the notification bar, active and running, that might be your problem.

Upgraded to the new ROM build last night and everything is now fine.
Cant remember the build number ends in .66 I think :)

I'm using the Modaco custom ROM which includes Google voice search. So when I replicate what I used to do it does not bounce and I can't turn it landscape anyway. Also using Dolphin browser so it does not open the standard browser which might have been the reason the notifications bar bounced...
