Help I wish to know more about my Nexus S

hi all,
Just bought my Nexus S 2 weeks ago and i wish to know more about it.

1. My Nexus S model number is I9023XXKD1, is this model the "Nexus S 4G" that is separated from this forum?

2. Do my Nexus S requires internet connection to use the GPS function?
I heard from my friend that Nexus S has a "built-in GPS IC" which could directly detect my position from the satellite without internet connection, is it true?

You have the same model as me ,it's not a 4G .
You can use the GPS funtion without any internet conn. ,but you have to install a 3rd party software like Garmin.
