Root I'm confused about update.zip

Well after a tedious process of flashing recoveries, I finally got one to work, and now I'm to the process where I'm flashing the Cyanogenmod7 .img.zip file onto my device, however, when I attempt to do so, I am informed that I have no Update.zip file. What is this? How do I get it?

Edit. I have wiped /cache and /data.

Don't choose to flash update.zip, choose to flash from zip on sdcard, then select the asopCM7 zip file.

The .img file you are trying to flash is a recovery. That is not the rom.
