"insufficient fund for message delivery"?

BoyFire

Lurker
I'm using an unlocked verizon phone I purchased from Amazon.
As soon as I got is setup with the first carrier I started
receiving this message::

"insufficient fund for message delivery"?(corrected the missed spelling of the word message here!)

I'm on my second carrier now and I'm still receiving this
same message. I get the message every time I turn my phone
on or restart it for whatever reason.

I strongly feel there is a verizon app calling verizon to
see if I have any messages, it's just me.

Can someone tell me how to stop the message or what I can
do to stop it? BTH way I have service now with tracfone and
I pay for it yearly, and have been for three or more years.
So, it's not a problem of me not paying bill.

Thanks in advance BF

I'm sorry, I didn't post the brand, it's a Samsung S5, and yes that is the exact message each and every time::
"insufficient fund for massage delivery"?
Thanks for your help!

In that case..if its saying massage instead of message I think that whoever had the device before you is running some sort of customized operating system.

It could be they've just tweaked it here and there to get rid of some bloatware... but you have no way of knowing what they did.

If it was my device* then I wouldn't be able to trust it, and would be looking to install some trusted operating system build (rom) onto the device... either the stock on, or some other trustworthy one.

Not being familiar with this device, I can't give instructions on how to do it... But make sure you know what you're doing before you flash anything to it. (I suspect you've got a pile of forum posts to read in your near future ;)

* and i realise it's yours, so feel free to ignore me completely

I've seen a similar question recently. Apparently it's messages that the Carrier sends to your phone to inform you about insufficient founds or changes to your account ect. It seems that Verizon send these messages not through the regular text but a different way. If someone knows where such message data might be stored, clearing that data should help.

Can't find a link to that thread but basically the complaint was that messages keep coming back, dated a few months back, when pressed they open in messaging app, they come back even after deleting them. After disabling all messaging apps the message still came back, when pressed it asked the user to download a messaging app to view it. (All this happened without the original Sim inside)

I suspect something similar in this case.

The above is not a solution but a suggestion to someone who might know where such message are stored, and can direct the OP to that location.
I might be totally off though...

Carriers usually know how to spell message though

Okay, I'm sorry I messed up spelling the word massage instead of message! I'm sorry for wasting your time but that don't change anything as for as continually getting this crazy message all the time! I also did not mention that it's a Samsung S5 if that helps any. One more thing, I've tried different phone messing apps. The last one was Signal, hoping that would make a difference some how but it did not change anything, the messages keep coming. Now I've gone back to using Verison' own messenger and I still get the same message::"insufficient fund for message delivery"!

Thanks again for taking the time to help me out! BF

That's what i suspected. Happens to the best of us :)

Now, if someone knows where such message are stored (as i posted above), they should be able to direct you in how to delete it.

You didn't say if it was a pop-up message when you are trying to send a text or if it was a notification in the bar at the top. If it's in the notification tray, then pull down, long press on the message and it should tell you which app is sending the message.

Is there any way you can post a screen shot?

Notification comes up with all the other notifications, and there is a message notification bubble showing how many messages I've received altogether on my phone icon on the home page, but it happens every time I boot up(turn the phone on after it's been off).

Can you share the phone number the message comes from? (Assuming that it's not a private number)

Did you check your message history to make sure that there is no message that's actually trying to send? You said that this started as soon as you got your phone. From the fact that this message appeared I'm assuming that the phone wasn't cleared before sale so there might be a message that's still trying to send. Go into your messaging app and go to the bottom and see if those were sent by you or the owner before you.

Thanks for taking the time!
This was a new purchase, no history of calls or sms's. And I'm still getting the same message on every bootup. BF

I would want to search up any info online about the number that this message arrives from and see if anyone had solved a similar issue.

Can you share that number?
