Root Jellybean update

Update: There will be no upgrade to Jelly Bean for any of the three Boost Mobile’s phones mentioned above. Apparently, it was all a mistake noticed by Boost only when a Prepaid Phone News reader asked them about when upgrades could be expected. Boost Mobile have corrected the feature lists of ZTE Warp Sequent, LG Venice and Samsung Galaxy Rush since so now it’s clear that “The phones are not upgradable to Android 4.2.”

well, there are a few things wrong with that statement, mostly due to the wording. to say its physically not upgradable is a flat out fairy tale, we have jellybean, it remains unfinished but it exists and works for the most part. and if you meant it wont be getting an upgrade somebody better tell zte that kuz they posted it themselves, thats how this rumor started, not some mistake on the boost mobile site, whoever runs the zte twitter account posted that it will be put out this year.

now they could have just meant that its not CURRENTLY upgradable, that even though an update is coming they dont have it out yet. the site could have mentioned that according to their website it said they have jellybean for it which was untrue they dont but that doesnt mean they wont, the hope is still out there, we just cant get a straight answer out of anyone so like i said in the beginning ill believe it when i see it, we cant say that its not gonna happen either though, zte, the company that manufactured the product and maintains the software for it did say that it will be upgraded

like i just said, wont be and isnt are two different things my friend. their site said there WAS an update. meaning an official one already existed which it doesnt, they wouldnt in fact be lieing if they said an upgrade doesnt exist and that their site was incorrect. there have been multiple accounts of both companies saying there will be an upgrade in the near future though

make sure you check the wording and the facts before you go dashing everyones hope, and at the same time who says they even know what the hell they are talking about?

on what? on that news site? kuz i have the article right here

Boost Mobile Backtracks on Jelly Bean Updates | Prepaid Phone News

read what boost said, they said there was an error in implying that an upgrade was available, show me where it says that one isnt in the works
As stated earlier, thank you for bringing this to our attention. I was waiting for confirmation on what is the correct status. The phones are not upgradable to Android 4.2. The website will be corrected by Thursday.
that is all they said regarding the matter, and that is entirely true, they are not upgradable officially. thats the same general principle as saying iphones arent upgradable to iOS7, not because theyre never going to be, because its not out yet

edit:
lol wow. ok so the site i posted with an actual copy of the letter only has that one guy, that is apparently their entire staff

also this is the article you found

http://prepaidmobilephonereviews.co...-warp-sequent-lg-venice-and-galaxy-rush-soon/

both of those sites seem to treat rumor and speculation as fact, and believe me if i thought they were right, that they had solid evidence, i would just be here saying "i told you so" im the guy who said they were probably lieing in the first place when they said it, but im not above admitting im wrong, and i havent been proven to be right or wrong yet

they based the original article on an assumption, and then retracted it on one that was even flimsier than the first. believe that site if you want but zte has confirmed an update and even given a timeframe, you said yourself that boost confirmed it to you, obviously not everyone at either company has their story straight, so your guess is as good as mine on who is right and who is wrong. but the theory that the update will be coming has alot more evidence to back it up that is all im saying. that and that website is obviously not credible at all

im not here to argue i just want to make sure its clear, if they knew what they were talking about in the first place they wouldnt have had to retract their original erroneous article. they made assumptions and presented them as fact the first time, and now they are doing it again, that message is open to interpretation and in no way verifies nor denies that there wont be an update in the future

Some Boost Mobile phones HAVE received the update to Jelly Bean. I was eager to update my Boost Mobile LG Venice and I have been jealous of folks with newer phones that have Android Jelly Bean 4.1 or 4.2.

I was happy to read that Boost Mobile had begun an "Over The Air" update of the LG Venice to Jelly Bean 4.1.1, PLUS upgrading the Venice to Version 8 of the Venice firmware.

I did not want to wait for Boost to send me the update, so I Googled around to find out how to "force" an OTA update.

THIS is the process I followed to update my Venice:

1. Charged my Venice to 100%

2. Verified that I had more than 400 MB of open internal memory (moving all of my music to the SD card gave me 1.7 GB of open memory).

3. Connected to a fast wi-fi router.

4. Clicked "Settings".

5. Clicked "Apps"

6. Clicked "All"

7. Clicked "Google Services Framework"

8. Clicked "Force Stop"

9. Clicked "Settings"

10. Clicked "System Updates"

11. Clicked "Update Firmware"

12. Clicked "Update LG Software"

The 362 mb download began and continued for about 15 minutes. Next I was asked if I wanted to install the update. I "clicked" update. During the update process, the Venice was restarted and then a notice said "Updated 23 apps". Then the Venice restarted again. I was asked if I wanted to update "Google Search". I clicked "update". That update installed "Google Now" and after the install I was given a quick overview of how "Google Now" works.

I had 1.7 gb of open memory before the update and 1.5 gb after, with much of the 200 mb of memory being used for app updates and the new "Google Now" app.

The entire process took less than an hour and went smoothly. My Venice was also updated to V.8 of the LG firmware from the original V.5. My phone was never rooted.
