Root Leaked 2.3.9 Root

I have, to me at least, a very stable 2.3.9 from when the original leak was pushed out. What a joy over 2.1!
I've been reading about deodexing, ROMs, Themes etc. Alot of this is for the OTA 2.2 which I find in my searches. All this requires root, which I am now prepared to do.

Is this the best way/most current way to root the 2.3.9?

I really don't want to go the route of downgrading to 2.1, then back again, nor do I want the OTA 2.2. Thanks in advance!

I recommend using this method Much simpler guide for rooting (no pc required) - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum its actually for the Droid 2 but I can guarantee you that it works for the dx.
