Root LG Optimus Elite Ultimate Rooting Guide(Good for newcomers)

no, it doesnt work like that. they behave similarly, yes, but that doesnt make everything completely interchangeable. mac users will need a mach-o binary. if it is a universal one, then it would work for intel and ppc.

so i was hoping to root my phone and i was hoping to do it the easy way :/ but the link in step one of your pdf the file is no longer there do you have a back up some where that you could provide ? that would be grate .:)

Outdated broski. Look at the stickies and there will be an easier way to root without even using a computer :]

Hi all...

I downloaded the latest greatest guide for rooting my OE and read it over the last couple of days...Also read some of it before...

1) I have a couple of questions regarding giantpune's simple rooting method for beginners: The guide gives a download link to go to... Would I still need to use another device (laptop, tablet, desktop, etc.) or is the download link for the mobile device itself?? It wasn't very clear to me. For the other methods, it reads as though I would need to use another device for downloading all the commands/code, then connect my OE to it for downloading (please correct me if I'm wrong). I wasn't clear on that either..

2) With giantpunes' easy method, do I still need to obtain my MSL/SPC? I know I would for the other methods, but wasn't sure about this one. The guide didn't specify.

I think I might need some technical 'hand-holding' to do this correctly. After reading the guide, it didn't look too simple to me. If anyone's willing to help guide me, I'm certainly willing to donate to his/her favorite cause...

Thank you all for all of your hard work and kudos for all the great info you post on these forums. It's helped me to become a more savvy smart phone user.

Like said above use the new root with an apk method http://androidforums.com/elite-all-things-root/612914-optimus-elite-root-apk.html

You can download everything right to your phone. And there is pretty much no way to screw anything up.

Hi all..
Thanks for the replies... The poot-debug.apk link from giantpune's post in this forum didn't work. I tried going to sendpace.com but when I tried to find it on there, a screen popped up with a 'select current directory' at the top and a list of folders. I don't know which one to select.. The folder names are asec, extasec, extobb, extsecure, obb, sdcard, secure (??). Now I'm baffled.

Where can I go to find a 'poot' link that will work? What directory/folder should it go into?

Thanks a bunch!

OOPs!.. Pls disregard my last post. I made a stupid noob mistake. I had the Unknown Sources settings tab checked, which blocks any non market apps from being installed. Sorry abt that. Had to go in and uncheck it.
