Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Formatting memory card and internal memory.

Hey guys, I'm looking forward to reformatting both my memory card and internal memory because I have no clue what's taking up so much space in both. I would just like to know after I do this will my apps or phone be affected in anyway?

Yeah mate. All the downloaded apps will be uninstalled.
After u reset, it should give u the option to install them all again over wifi but all their settings/data will be lost.
To back up the data youll have to either root the phone or check out Carbon app in play store

Finding out whats using up the memory might be easier if the phone is working fine otherwise

I have Titanium Backup for my apps, my phone works I just don't know what's taking up space in both. Thanks

This app looks weird.

Not sure what to make of that comment :/

Its great. Its breaks down data type by folder... So I can see where all the space is being used.

So lets look at mine.

On the left "Storage card" is my internal /sdcard. It shows the size in total.

We can see that 6218 MB of my data is "media" and 1685 MB is "apps" from the second column.

When we move into the 3rd column, We can see which directories have all the data in. So it breaks "media" from column 2 into folders. We can see that "AFlash" folder and "clockworkmod" folder take up the most space (in column 3). We can also see that my biggest "app" killer is "Virtua Tennis"

Every column to the right of column 3 shows even more folders (within the folders). The brown blocks are individual files.

You should definitely and easily track down your culprit this way.

is your external sd card also really full martymar...because i remember when my 16 gb external sd card was only down to 3 gb i deleted some of my twrp backups...still no change in space...i finally remembered there were hidden files in the external sd card...the hidden file was basically a trash folder containing all i had deleted...so i had to delete the deleted item("deletception") and then my space came back...

I understand now thanks. I said it look weird because I didn't know what was going on lol.

I manage to free up about 4gb on my internal memory, I only have 1.37gb left on my sd card. I can't find that folder you are talking about.

I used astro file manager from the play store...the free version will be just fine for this...when you start the app you will find folders like my files 1 and my files 2...if you're on stock the external sd card is called my files 2 if on aosp it's called my files 3 usually...anyway click on it and it'll show contents of sd card...then click the soft key menu button on your s3 then click on the settings option on the popup menu there should be a check box for show hidden files just check that and your hidden files will be shown...
