Missing text messages

neil1492

For some reason I am getting alerts for text messages and then when I try to read the message it is not there. Its like I never received it. I am using Handcent to manage my sms messages. I don't have it set to display a pop-up, which now I am thinking I should.

Anyone else have this issue?

it's not when you get a voicemail, is it? Mine will display a notification saying I've got a text message from "android" whenever I get a voicemail, but it doesn't show up in the message list

No these are normal text messages. I get the notification in the pull down window but when I click on it it doesnt show up in Handcent.

if you want to fix this, here's an excerpt from a post that shows how:

There is a post somewhere on how to do it, but here are the basic steps (from memory, so don't sue me)...

Go to Handcent settings and make sure Enable Popup is on.
Go to homescreen
Call your own number and leave a voicemail.
When the voicemail shows up, the Handcent popup should appear.
REPLY to the SMS message (this puts it into your Handcent "inbox")
(Ignore the reply back to your reply, if you get one).
Now go to Handcent and you'll see a message thread for the new message. LONG press on it, and select "Blacklist."

Now retest, you should get voicemail notification as normal, Handcent will ignore it.

Actually, it looks like the most recent update of Handcent fixed the issue, since I just tried it and I didn't get a message saying I had a voicemail (other than the notification from voicemail).

Did you root your phone and remove the stock messaging app? This happened to me when I did that.
