Help MMS on 3rd party apps (Virgin Mobile USA)

Lurker
I just got this phone and can't get any 3rd party apps to send mms pictures. I wanted to use Textra, and tried putting in apn settings I found online for Virgin, but they still won't send, just automatically says failed. It seems to send fine in the stock messaging app. I've tried looking for apn settings in the actual phone but can't find them? Under settings and mobile networks it has Data Enabled, 4G settings (which you can't change anyway?) Network Mode and Connections Optimizer.

Seems like this should be a basic function so I'm confused as to why this is a problem?

Not rooted, would rather not just for this.

More networks/Mobile network/Access Point Names. Choose the APN. If it's wrong, edit it or Discard it (from the menu) and add a new one with the right settings.

There is no "Access Point Names" in the settings menu. Like I said, the only options in Mobile network are the ones I listed in my original message. Could it be somewhere else? I feel like I've looked everywhere.

If you're rooted, download /system/app/ mover and make it a system app. That's the only thing that seemed to work for me. I use Textra for my main SMS and MMS app and that's what worked.

I am having this issue too.
So you are saying if I move the mms app to the /system/app folder then my mms app (Chomp) will work?

I can send MMS in the default messaging app but not chomp, but not receiving any (from either)

I'm not saying it'll work for sure with all apps, I'm just saying that's what worked for me. It doesn't overwrite the stock one, AND MAKE SURE NOT TO DELETE THE STOCK MESSAGING APP. I'm fairly certain that incoming SMS/MMS won't be received if the stock app is removed.

I use 8sms from the Play Store. It handles MMS perfectly without having to change any settings. Go to the settings in your default messaging app to get the numbers you are looking for if you want to continue to use Textra.

Hello, I've encountered the same issue with my LG Optimus F3 on Virgin Mobile. Tried every 3rd party texting app available and encountered the same issue. Confirmed APN settings, etc. Finally got the MMS to work by removing the SIM card! Not sure what this means, but for now it's working! I can send/receive MMS with Textra once again!

Is 4g still working after you removed it?

Unfortunately no, I realized that without the SIM card I get 3G but not 4G. So maybe the issue lies with 4G? I'd still like to get this straightened out. So far, Virgin's customer service has been no help.

Ok must have been some issue specifically with 4G LTE. Switched my network mode from LTE/CDMA to CDMA and now the MMS is working again even with the SIM back in.
