This is specifically related to the Motorola Atrix. I have used Blur on lesser devices and I really want your opinions on using it on the Atrix (dual core power). Yes, I have used both ADW and LauncherPro and I know their strengths/weaknesses. Thanks in advance for any pros/cons given.
I wasn't expecting Motoblur to have any problem on the dual-core Atrix, even with the bump in screen resolution to qHD, but to be honest, my experience with it was still rather laggy.
However, I'm someone who makes heavy use of widgets - I like to do as much as possible from the home screen. I have beautiful widgets (clock and weather), a big calendar, a widget for my to-do list from google tasks, a widget for my gmail inbox, sms inbox, and my twitter feed. Oh, and the stock android power management widget. Now, that's a lot of widgets, so maybe some lag is just unavoidable in these conditions.
However, launcher pro definitely ran more smoothly, AFTER I set the memory usage / homescreen cache preference to the highest setting. I also turned on the "high-quality scrolling," and still less lag than motoblur. Still some lag browsing through the homescreens sometimes after exiting out of the browser with music playing in the background, but by a small-to-medium margin, it was less noticeable than with Motoblur.
Are you planning to root and remove most of the blur stuff, or change your home? What helped my atrix even more than launcher pro was rooting, loading clockwork, and installing GingerBlur. Even now I still have some lag, but like I said, with all those widgets, I guess it's to be expected.
Hope that helps? If you really love motoblur and don't plan to root, I would stick with it; launcher pro by itself, even with a big allowance for caching, won't make a HUGE difference, but just enough that it's noticeable. I personally didn't really like motoblur but love launcher pro plus, so that's why I switched. Good luck!
