Help Moto X email search does not work

I'm using the stock email tool on Moto X. In an individual account, when I click on the magnifier icon and try to search for a person, for example, it cannot find what i am looking for. For instance, I received a message from Chad Smith. If I search for Chad, it might find a different Chad in my contacts, or it might find nothing at all, when I can visibly see the message from Chad Smith in my inbox.

What am I missing?

Is Chad Smith saved as a Google contact (aka Gmail contact) or to phone storage only or to the SIM only?

The contact I'm looking for only exists in my mailbox. Perhaps that is why? Maybe the mail tool is not so sophisticated?

Hi Don, could you move this post to the general android forum? I don't believe this is a Moto X issue I think it's just a problem with the general Android mail tool

I only use the Gmail app for email myself, but anybody having issues with the stock mail client I think should at least try out the K9 Mail app. It's free in the market and may have the search functions you need.

I looked at K-9 mail app but it sounds like the search functions are no good either. I can't believe that within the stock email app for Android does NOT allow you to search for a person's name. Only an email address. So if I get an email from John Smith (JS@aol.com) that it can only find JS- not John Smith.
