Just a quick note as I have been asked on various forums.
I do most of my Alpha 2 stuff in Gingerbread 2.3.4.
Why?
Mainly because it easily out benchmarks ICS when installed, many games do not play well under ICS and Even with the different launchers and such out there ICS just feels sterile to me. I even have other tablets that come with ICS that I take back to Gingerbread when I can.
But in the instance of any 512MB tablet I think you just get more bang for you buck in Gingerbread. Luckily the Allwinner with the Mali GPU can make a valiant effort running ICS. I have a couple of pads that have The Samsung A8 that are just sad running ICS but a lot of people are so obsessed with having the latest or greatest will talk as if the tablets could win an Indy race.
In my opinion, less is more on the Alpha 2.
