My Nexus 5 officially retired.

A while back I told you I cracked the screen on my Nexus 5, well, it still worked, but I ended up switching back to my note 2 for a few reasons but was thinking about taking the nexus 5 to t-mo to check out there network, so, I stuck the thing in my back pocket and carried it with me. Never did make it out to t-mo but left it in my pocket while I did other things. I get home, pull my devices out of my pocket and seen the screen on the Nexus 5 completely shattered.

It

is

gone! :mad::(

Phone still works though but the screen is trashed.

I suspect it shattered while I was hopping in and out of the truck while I was out taking photos tonight.

I am not replacing it. :(

I know each his/her own but I never understood why anyone would spend $350-$399 for a phone if only to put it in your pocket!? My wife and my daughter do this and I'm replacing their phone each year because they destroy it for the exact same reason. Which is why I don't spend the money on their phones. Spent $399 on my Nexus 5 and I'm damn sure going to take care of it but again that's just me. I guess others have money they can blow on phones whenever they feel the need, wish I did.. LOL!

I've never ever put a phone in my back pocket. Seems like a formula for disaster. My left front pocket is always reserved for my caseless, screen protector-less phone. ;)

Sorry for your loss and all that, but that's crazy putting it in your back pocket with the screen being weakened from the original crack.

Yeah, I know...

I have kept my note II in my back pocket before, but usually while at work. It kind of just slipped my mind that my N5 was there.

Oh well...

Side note:
I used to wear my phone(s) in a holster on my belt clip, but it kept getting snagged and yanked off at work.

I use the exact same method you do.

The exception with my Nexus 5, is I'm using a wonderful Spigen Slim Armor all black case. It has the same grippy soft touch back as the Nexus and protects it's camera lens that protrudes without a case.

I NEVER use a screen protector because they kill the terrific tactile feel and responsiveness of a Oleophobic coated Gorilla Glass Screen. Scratches aren't a problem by simply being careful.

I am totally happy with my Nexus 5, it's just terrific. :D

I've always put my phone in my front left pocket,no screen protector although i do use a cheap gel case while at work.I'm a self employed general builder.I've not scratched or damaged a single phone yet.
I put this down to the user. Some people can break anything. :D
