ok guys - can all you guys who have a samsung s8 check to see if there system status on the phone shows "official" or "custom" ,you need to go into downlaod mode to see this, ?..only those with unrooted phone, totally original. The reson iask is because my samsunbg is totally original, never been rooted or modded. my phone has some hardware issues and samsung say that because the screenshot i sent them shows my system status as "custom" , i have rooted my phone and the warranty is now invalid..i told the ive never done anyting to the phone..i also showed them that the knoxx counter is showing 0 and not been triggered so i cant have added anything to the phone.....bloody liars. ..!

My system status will be irrelevant so can't help you there. But I'm pretty certain that you can't put any custom system on there without tripping Knox. I'm pretty sure download mode even tells you when you've voided your warranty.

Soz not the clearest pic but download mode does tell you if your warranty's void. 1 = void 0 = not. If your doesn't say that they're talking out their ass.

Edit: To put a 0 where it was meant to be.

Not really sure what could give the false reading. Has the phone been in for repair before or have you turned oem lock off in developer settings?

sorry guys was busy..anyway heres mine, aint it supposed to be a 0 = warranty valid, 1 = warranty invalid. yes its been repaired twice already by samsung, for faulty sim tray and second time for sd card not being recongnised...what is oem lock ? ive reset my s8 to factory settings..but problems still there. the sim tray is very hard to open and doesnt seat properly, also the wifi and bluetooth toggle are greyed out and i cant connect to my wifi...the samsung customer support said my system status shoud read "official"...ive no idead why it reads custom because my phone is not and never has been rooted....

Nah it's 1 for warranty void. Oem lock needs to be turned off in developer options before you flash. But since you've asked that I guess you never turned it off.

OEM lock= original equipment manufacturer lock. So to do anything custom with it you've got to turn the lock off first.

My guess is Samsung tripped the status to custom during one of the repairs.

lol no problem..think i found out the problem and its to do with the sim tray,..i found THIS posted on the net..anyway i followed it, inserted sd card into phone, unmounted it and reebooted the phone , status of phone changed from custom to official....odd that ! , but when i reove the sd card and reedboot the phone the phone status chsnged back to custom...also the sim card tray is very difficult to open and close, it also doesnt fit fluch and is always sticking out a bit..The simtray was repalced by samsung during the last repair they done, then when i got the phone back later, i noticed the phopne wouldnt recongnise any kind of sd card so i sent it back and they fixed the issue...now im getting this issue..looks like samsung have made a cockup of my repairs...i asked them tha this isthe 3rd time im sending the phopne back within a few months for repair and im not very happy. I asked if i could have a new s8, but the customer support its not possible as its a repair warranty and will be fixed...3rd time lucky i hope.

will samsung still say its been rooted because of the status saying "custom" ?

I don't see how they could with knox=0. Unless they're willing to admit knox isn't secure after all. But, with complicated warranty work like multiple returns it's always best to document as much as possible (including how you got it read as "official") and include a copy when you send it in.

I know that as it makes it's way through the system, all it takes is one petty functionary to reject it to turn the process into a nightmare.
