Root New official CM9 boot animation

The other ones I linked say HD. And are pulled straight from the Galaxy Nexus. See it that will work, it's why I linked more than one.

Same 360x640 set to 720x1280 in the desc.txt, but it's .png instead of .jpg.
I changed the desc.txt and I'm about to reboot to check it out.

Well, it is the one pulled from the Galaxy Nexus, so doubt you will get a better resolution one if that doesn't cut it. :(

Well, I'm not sure if it's clearer or not.
I thought so at first, but I ran the jpg one and the png one alternating twice, and now I'm not sure if it may not be all in my head.
it's the same resolution, but seems like smoother, brighter colors. Just not sure. I'll try again in the morning.

One things for sure... It's over 8mb and the jpg one is less than 2 mb.

I've just downloaded so many of these lately I may be burnt out on it. :D

Thanks though!

I use something else completely, but hopefully stuff can get worked out how you want. I can also get someone to pull it from their phone (I am pretty sure that is what was in the rootzwiki thread) just to make sure if you want.

It may all be in your head or not. .pngs are usually a higher picture quality than .jpgs, which is why I use them for most stuff.

Usually perceived image quality is independent of file format. The advantage of the .png format is transparency, which is not supported with .jpg.

Anyway, in this particular case, both the png and the jpg files are 360x640 with a 24 bit color depth.
Using frame 26 as a sample, the so-called hd png had about 54k unique colors and the jpg had about 83k colors. The png was almost 8 times larger in file size and takes about 4 times longer to load. No big deal normally, (we're talking milliseconds here after all) but could adversely affect an animation like this.

Anyone have any idea why the boot animation isn't running as shown in the video? Neither this download or the one included with the alpha5 upgrade. It's missing the whole spinning arrow part. Not a BIG deal, I guess- a huge improvement over the previous boot animation but I've been psyched for this animation since it's been being teased for a week or so and I will admit to pouting like a damn child when I saw that it wasn't as advertised.lol

PS. If any of the CM team should read this, I'm not complaining! Honest!lol You guys are the best and I appreciate all your work!

Seek and ye shall find! Got a complete, working boot animation, as advertised, over at XDA. While I'm not allowed to register there with my Sprint IP, I was unable to thank Akilldema so I'll take this opportunity to do so. (Hope he sees it) THANKS!

No idea. This download worked fine for me.
I haven't tried the most recent alpha, so I can't comment, other than to say that no one else has mentioned it.

The animation in Froyocream Sandwich is very nice and crisp. Of you have root explorer then you can swap the two after doing your backup and restore. In order to change them, you need to grant read/write permission in the system media folder. Return original settings after you are done.
