New to Android... Please help

1. I got Gmail just for this phone, yet for some reason I have to refresh the gmail app for it to tell me I have new mail.. it does not just pop up when it gets in my inbox, I always have to refresh. Anyway to fix this?

2. On the facebook app that comes with the phone how do I get to my inbox/ outbox?

3. When I go to compose a text I have to enter my contacts phone number, is there no way to add from the contacts when choosing who to send to?

4. Is there anyway to make the Silent Button that u can switch to in the lock screen vibrate? not just be totally silent?

1. Did you turn off your auto sync? Menu > Settings > Data Sync. If its not checked, check it.

2. No idea, I dont have the Droid.

3. You should be able to enter in just the name in the "To:" section and it should find it.

4. Again, handset specific. I think the Hero had a vibrate only on longpress of the end call button. Check that.
 
Sync is on and everything... is it just my phone or something?

and also I try just typing the name in on text and still does not do anything.... damn it :(
 
This might seem like a silly question, but is there a "to" box for you to type who you want to send it to? Thats where you would want to type in name. Not in the body of the message.

I apologize if this sounds overy basic, but its hard to tell someones tech level online. :)
 
Ok I figured out the texting problem lol i had my contacts set up as HOME... not mobile. So now that works.

But my gmail is still off and on, which is kinda sad.. oh well :(
 
If you don't mind my asking... do you happen to live somewhere near Maine/NH? We've been having some strange network issues today because of the storm yesterday. My weather app won't auto update, and my 3g keeps disconnecting. The only reason I'm not worried is because our power and internet are doing the exact same thing.

I don't think inbox is directly available from the app, but if you go to your profile, and info tab, then hit the menu button, you can click 'view profile' which takes you to the facebook site and you can check everything.

The things available in the app are somewhat limited. --not that I'm a facebook expert or anything...
