Root New to Rooting or Idea of...

I've had my Droid for about 4 months now and I love it. I came from a long line of BB's so it's refreshing. But I get tired very quickly of having limits I guess. I don't know whether to go Droid X, wait for Froyo release or Root my Droid. I know it's a smaller processor in my Droid but it's not exactly SLOW. I have pdaNET and don't need to Root due to tethering. I just want something a little quicker. Pros and Cons are what I am after.

Any help is appreciated.

Best suggestion I could give you is to read. I am actually not sure there is a "con", but in others eyes, there may be.

I say before spending any cash on a new phone .... Root and load Froyo 2.2 from source and over clock it. You may just fall in love with your phone all over again

assuming you are comfortable with the process ofcourse
