Root newb question about ROM and GAPPS

ok, newb question here.

I have a volt that is rooted and has twrp installed.

I downloaded bad_MOFO33's cm13 unofficial rom which is android 6 if I'm not mistaken?

do I need the GAPPS in addition to the rom? and where might I find it?

GAPPS includes: play store, maps... etc. all the google applications that normally come on the phone?

Yes, cm13 is 6 & you can get gapps from here.

Another question. if i have 2 volts. Can I swap the sim cards? Can problems with virgin/carrier pop up. I installed cm 13 on the 2nd volt and want to use it temporarily to try it out. I installed cm on 2nd phone incase it failed.

Swapping sim cards won't swap service (unless you have the phone gsm unlocked for international use; then you might be able to use a non-US gsm card). It will only make LTE not work with a different sim card if it was activated with the one that's in it. There is normally never a reason to take a sim card out of one of these phones once it had a correct one, even if switching service.
