Root newbie

Ok not real sure where to go on here but looking around trying to figure out what all the fuss is about. Just got droid x had blackberry strom2. Some things i like about both maybe there are some fixes that i have no clue about. So do you guys sugest i do first? i guess biggest problem is getting rid of un wanted apps and getting them to quit running.

*note-you can no longer deodex with 928 black glass ....you must deodex manually or through a rom
