Official 2.3.4 OTA is released

Frisco

=Luceat Lux Vestra=
It came to my phone at about 2:30 this morning (Central U.S. time).

Heat is lower (played Doodle Jump, which usually brings the heat up after about a minute or so), seems to be nice and quick.. still checking it out.

A few more impressions, so far, of the device after the OTA install.

- I have never, ever had full bars on signal strength at this location, being used to either one or two: it is now full five bars and drops to four once in a while, very impressive and unexpected.

- I was used to a bit of "fuzziness" at certain points of playing Doodle Jump, sometimes the little paddles the guy jumps on would blur out on the edges a little bit: that seems to have ended, I'm guessing because the processor is optimized?

- Shut down was always pretty quick, but boot up was slower: now boot up is much faster, I've done it twice to be sure.

Still playing around with it.

I was running Eclipse 8.1, saw your post this morning, so flashed back to stock Froyo. Got my phone and accounts settled out, went to Phone Info, updated to 2.3.3. I let the phone settle a bit and rebooted, and that's where I am now. When I check for updates again, it says I'm up to date. So I'm sitting at 2.3.3, should I be doing or checking something else?

They have a history of releasing the OTA updates to various regions a little at a time over the course of several days. Maybe I was one of the lucky ones and they just released the first wave at about the time I turned my phone on several hours ago.

I did not use the menu to check for updates, it was downloading about a minute after I booted up; actually, it interrupted my texting with a small applet prompt asking if I wanted to install now or later.. I picked "now" and it was done in about three minutes or so.

The signal bars have returned to normal (the usual 2).. I'm thinking that the new software hadn't calibrated yet.. I'd never seen full bars before that update came in and rebooted. But.. alas, it didn't last.

One thing for sure, the thing runs a bit cooler, just enough to take it away from the "almost hot" it was before after a few minutes of constant use.

Argh, I'm THIS close to installing the leaked 2.3.4 :)

If it wasn't such a hassle flashing back to Froyo, then working through the updates....

Where are you, btw? I'm here in Northern VA.

From what I've seen of OTAs across three Android devices now, it does seem to move regionally for a while, then we start seeing people checking in from all over after a day or so.

They seemed to have started it in the middle of the night and on a weekend to avoid huge traffic jams over the magical air waves. ;)

All I did was turn on my phone and it started downloading from 0%..not even a prompt to allow it to download or not.

There was a prompt to allow the installation "now" or "later."

Just heard someone else say they got theirs. Nice homescreen, btw. I really just want to get my update, get everything going smooth, back it up, then flash to a new ROM. I'm thinking alien. :)

I decided last night I couldn't wait, then I see this. I installed the leaked rom last night and what a difference in the response of the phone. I was really happy with it after GB but now with this version, I am even happier. The phone just responds to everything without the delays or any other issues like disappearing keyboard. Who knows when I would have gotten the OTA but since this is the same file, it really doesn't matter.
I can say this phone is now finally at the level we all expected at release time!!!!

Have you tried rooting the OTA? I'm rooted, supercharged, bloat frozen and have applied the hack to swap how the DX2 see's sd vs internal memory. In other words, I need to change all that back before I can even try to do the OTA. And likely I will need to sbf back to froyo, flash to GB then let my phone look for the update...... lotta fricken work, again. I almost hate OS updates anymore. Anyway, would be nice to know if you are rooted on the OTA and if so did you use ginerbreak or did your root from 2.3.3 stick after 2.3.4 update. Thanks.

BTW Frisco - big come back win for our Huskers tonight, huh? It was ugly for quite a while again but they pulled together nicely.

Stock X2 here, Teegunn. I just purchased it about two weeks ago and it came with Gingerbread. It's been flawless with the exception of a bit of warmth verging on "hot" near the back bottom below the battery when in use for over a few minutes (a game, using the browser, etc).

The OTA affected that warmth: I can still feel it as I use it, but less so.

Most points in a comeback in Husker history.. 27 unanswered. GO BIG RED! :D I was at the game, and the crowd was feeling pretty dreary in the rain and with the score 27 - 6.. then things changed, to say the least. :)

Gotcha. Well, stock is always better for accepting OTA's that's for sure! I just checked my phone - no update being pushed to mine yet (I live in MT now). I may just flash over the 2.3.4 ROM that is posted on XDA instead of going through all of the work of sbfing, etc. Either way the update willl be on my phone soon. Thanks for the updates on how the OTA is treating your phone BTW.

I am startled that not one single X2 user has reported this OTA coming to their phone over 36 hours now since I got mine.

I thought I'd be coming in here and merging posts/threads with this one all day.

I got the update! in Boston. I am a total noob who just got my X2 last week... I am only posting to report I got the update... too new to contribute anything useful... but, I almost returned the phone due to sound problem, would not play music, which I see was a known issue. Heard about this release, it appeared first thing yesterday AM and it fixed the sound!! Been playing music flawlessly ever since. Didn't have the phone long enough to report any other fixes, but it did also seem to fix some lag I was experiencing flipping between screens too. Everything has been working great today... tested camera, which seems to work great. I am not one to mess with the root stuff since this is my first smartphone... so outta the box, with update, works great!
